The Royal Aeronautical Society launches streamlined routes to CEng / IEng registration for the Military

Added on 19 August 2010 by Peter Bradfield

Press Release - 19th August 2010

At the RAF’s Annual Chief of Staff Support Conference on 18 August, the Royal Aeronautical Society is pleased to announce its new streamlined route to Chartered Engineer (CEng) registration for engineering professionals in the armed forces.

A pilot scheme is underway with officers from the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy taking part. It is anticipated that the new route, open to all members of the military, will be given the go-ahead in January 2011, to be followed by a route specifically aimed at those interested in Incorporated Engineer (IEng) registration. The Society is the world’s only professional body dedicated to the entire aerospace community: welcoming everyone in the armed forces, or associated to them, to join as members. By launching these new routes to registration it offers a streamlined application route while maintaining the highest professional standards. These routes to registration are aimed at engineering officers and Airmen and Airwomen.

The Society’s President, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) David Couzens commented “We are delighted to be working closely with our members to develop these special routes; we are building on the success of our standard route which, since its revision 12 months ago, has seen a three-fold increase in the number of members seeking CEng registration.”

The Society’s Chief Executive, Simon Luxmoore, added “Currently, we have venues for the interviews across the UK and additional venues will be established to meet the anticipated increase in registration from new and existing members. If you would like to be one of the first to receive news about the new process when it goes live, please send an email to Kate Hopkins, our Membership Recruitment Officer, (at [email protected] ) or visit www.aerosociety.com/membership .”
